How Tech + Thoughtful Promos Make the Perfect Combo This Mother’s Day

    By Taren Martin | Blog | Comments are Closed | 22 April, 2025 | 0

Mother’s Day is a special day for families, and is also an important day for restaurants. Reservations fill up, kitchens go into high gear, and expectations are high.  Going out to eat is something many moms choose so they can relax and enjoy the day without deciding on a meal to cook and having a mess to clean up, and for restaurants, that means opportunity. With a little planning, the right promotions, and smart tech on your side, you can turn this special day into a smooth, high-revenue event that leaves guests raving (and moms smiling!).

Let’s start with the promos. Offering mimosa for mom at a free or discounted rate is always a hit, but why not level it up a little? Think Mother’s Day brunch menus, family-style meal bundles, or exclusive early-bird reservations with a special gift—like a flower or coupon for a future visit. You can even offer a social media giveaway leading up to the big day to boost engagement and bookings. Remember, keep things simple and don’t overthink it!  A small gesture can go a long way.

Now, here’s where restaurant software makes the magic happen behind the scenes.

Like we talked about last week, with inventory tracking, you can prep with precision. Use past Mother’s Day sales data to stock up on high-demand ingredients like eggs, berries, champagne, and coffee or whatever items were a hit at your restaurant. Real-time alerts and par-level settings mean no more guessing or last-minute grocery runs. You’ll know exactly what you need and when.

On the staffing side, labor forecasting tools help you schedule smart. With demand expected to spike, scheduling the right number of cooks, servers, and hosts can make or break the guest experience. Tech makes it easy to assign shifts, track clock-ins, and avoid unnecessary overtime which will save you money.

And let’s talk flow. A synced-up POS and kitchen display system (KDS) ensures orders fly from the front of house to the kitchen without a hitch. Fewer mistakes. Faster service. Happier guests.

Finally, tech tools like digital checklists, pre-set menus, and online reservation systems keep your team organized and your dining room running like a dream—even when every seat is full.

Smart planning, tech-tools, and thoughtful Mother’s Day promos will ensure your restaurant can deliver a seamless, memorable experience that moms (and your bottom line) will love.  If your restaurant does not currently utilize restaurant back-office software to help with everyday operations, it is important to look at how technology can benefit your business, not just on special occasions, but day in and day out!
