Ultimate Black Friday Checklist for Restaurants

    By Taren Martin | Blog | Comments are Closed | 25 November, 2024 | 0

Black Friday isn’t just for shoppers to snag a great deal—it’s a prime time for restaurants to shine and boost their sales. Whether you’re preparing for a busy day, launching a promotion, or simply looking to make the most of the holiday weekend, a well-thought-out checklist can set you up for success. Here’s how to ensure your restaurant is ready for the Black Friday rush.

    1. Stock Up on Essentials

High foot traffic means increased demand, so make sure you’re fully stocked:

    • Ingredients and supplies: Double-check inventory for popular menu items.
    • Packaging materials: Stock up on to-go boxes, bags, and utensils for online orders.
    • Beverages: Keep extra coffee, soda, and seasonal drinks on hand.
    • Be sure your restaurant has an ample amount of gift cards, after all, people will be shopping for holiday gifts, and it could be a great way to capitalize on this.

    2. Prepare Your Staff

Your team is essential so ensure they’re set up for success:

    • Create a detailed schedule: Use scheduling software to balance workloads and make sure you are covered for expected sales
    • Host a pre-rush meeting: Go over expected peak times, menu specials, and responsibilities.
    • Incentivize extra shifts: Offer bonuses or perks for staff working the holiday weekend.

    3. Optimize Your Technology

Efficient technology keeps your restaurant running smoothly during high-demand periods:

    • POS system check: Ensure all systems are updated and functioning properly.
    • Online ordering: Confirm your website and third-party delivery platforms are ready to handle an increase in orders.
    • Monitor inventory: Use software to track stock levels in real-time and avoid running out of key ingredients.

    4. Promote Your Black Friday Deals

     Stand out with eye-catching promotions:

    • Offer a special deal: Discounts on gift cards, meal bundles, or limited-time menu items are great options.
    • Leverage social media: Post updates, stories, and photos to engage customers.

    5. Decorate for the Season

Create a festive atmosphere to attract holiday shoppers:

    • Add seasonal touches like table decorations or themed signage.
    • Play holiday music to enhance the dining experience.
    • Display Black Friday promotions prominently for both dine-in and takeout customers.

    6. Keep Customers Informed

Communication is key to a smooth Black Friday:

    • Update your hours on Google, Yelp, and social media.
    • Post your holiday menu or specials online.
    • Send email reminders about your promotions.

With this checklist in hand, your restaurant is ready to tackle Black Friday like a pro. Be sure to reflect after the holiday rush and see what worked well and what can be improved. If you do not have software to help your restaurant run smoothly year around, especially during busy seasons, it is always a great time to invest in your business in a way that can help raise your bottom line and improve overall efficiency!
