The Not-So-Hidden Value of Visual Representation

    By Taren Martin | Blog | Comments are Closed | 7 April, 2022 | 0

We have learned throughout the years, especially the last 2, that the restaurant industry is forever changing: consumer demands and expectations, revenues, expenses, wait staff, the economy, and countless other factors that affect how you run your restaurant. When coupled with daily managerial tasks, restaurant owners and managers have their hands full and often feel overwhelmed.  Whether the issue be bills, a dysfunctional wait staff, or simply the lack of organization, there is always a solution to the problem. If you are feeling stuck, the situation will not improve unless you commit to making it better. This may mean seeking advice from a seminar, sitting through training sessions, or seeking out a third party to help you manage your back-office more efficiently. Today we will be discussing third party support and why it is necessary to run a successful restaurant.

Yes, you’re a superhero, but doing it all on your own is not the best use of your time or your energy! Imagine being able to view your sales figures, purchases, and customer transactions in a series of detailed reports. You can view last week’s reports or even last years to easily compare numbers.  Reports are easy to share so you can get your team up to speed on how things are going and discuss what is working and what might need to change.  There are even color coded reports to assist in identifying what some of your top sellers are and what might be costing you money.  As an employer in the food service industry, you know that to solely create similar reports by hand would be nearly impossible. How convenient would it be to have your accounting information computed for you into daily reports for your review? Research has concluded the value of such visual representations; 65% of the population are visual learners, and approximately 90% of the information that inhabits the brain is visual information. These are powerful statistics and reinforce the need for data visualization, which is why third parties offer a number of custom, detailed reports that incorporate sales trends, transactions, purchases, projected sales, and much more. Along with heightened comprehension, reporting takes a lot of the extensive workload off of managers.

Rather than spending countless hours crunching numbers, let technology do the work for you and provide you with up-to-date reports that display exactly where and how your money is being spent. Emailed reports include a variety of standardized reports including daily sales, day-part sales, labor percentages, vendor price changes, store comparisons, and much more. Why add to the stress associated with running a restaurant? Let a third party do the work for you, detailing your expenses, and in turn, boosting your profits.
