Don’t Just Schedule Your Labor, Manage It!

    By Taren Martin | Blog | Comments are Closed | 31 July, 2023 | 0

While back to school is an exciting time that restaurants can use as a promotional opportunity, it also comes with its own set of challenges.  Student workers are back in the classroom, which means their hours need to be scaled back and schedules need to be re-evaluated. Thankfully, the use of  labor scheduling software can help make this process much easier, allowing you time to focus on more pressing tasks.  If you have not started utilizing a labor scheduling software system, here are the many benefits it can offer your restaurant.

    Easy Labor Analysis

Do you have trouble knowing if you are hitting your labor percent goal?  It is important to set goals and know how you are measuring up in order for your restaurant to continue to operate successfully.  Labor scheduling software will automatically let you know if you are on track to meet your goals. If your software system integrates with your POS system, you can pull job codes and pay rates, making sure your labor dollar and percent will always be accurate. No more guessing and hoping that your numbers line up at the end of the day or week. Being able to make educated decisions will keep your labor cost down.

    Labor Reporting

Knowing exactly when your employees are arriving and leaving work is another significant part of running your restaurant.  If employees are getting regular overtime that you are not aware of, that could really cut into your profits.  Labor scheduling software automatically alerts managers when an employee is about to go into overtime so they can make changes before it’s too late. If your restaurant has multiple locations, you can even get side-by-side comparisons of how each store is performing.

    Automated Sales Forecasting

With labor scheduling software, you can receive automatically generated sales projections for your restaurant based off of previous weeks. Having accurate sales projections allow you to make informed decisions that will help you make sure you have the correct amount of labor to cover those projected sales. If you are expecting bad weather or have an event coming up, you can make adjustments by day, day part, or even by the hour.  No more over scheduling which costs you money or under scheduling which leaves your restaurant in a bind and often results in frustrated customers.  Knowing how to schedule your workload is a critical part of running a restaurant and technology can help you do that with ease.

A web-based labor scheduler allows you to access your schedule form anywhere, at any time! When you are finished creating your schedule, with a click of a button, you can send it out to your employees through text or email.  They can even view it through an employee scheduling app.  This creates a much more seamless experience for everyone. Employees can even request off through the app or trade shifts.  If you have been looking for a better labor scheduling system, better communication between managers and employees and a better way to measure data and raise your bottom line, then get started with labor scheduling software and start scheduling like a pro!
